Policy on Public Statements

[/gem_fullwidth][/vc_column][/vc_row]
The program will deliberately refrain from making public statements that:
  • A) endorse political candidates
  • B) advance or oppose public policies or
  • C) offer partisan political commentary
Exceptions to this rule will be considered if and when democratic norms of public discourse are violated to such an extent that a public response appears warranted and necessary to promoting our ideals with fidelity. Circumstances include discursive events harming or threatening to harm people or the possibility of democratic public discourse. If and when the program chooses to construct a public statement, the statement must be approved by its faculty director and executive director.
